This morning, on one of my favourite networking meetings – I asked 2 leading questions: Is your Business making enough Profit? Is your Business experiencing any Problems? Of course, the answers came back NO and YES respectively – I wouldn’t have expected anything else. But then, the usual debate ensued, peppered with the usual comments:…
Over the past 30 (ahem!) plus years spent in business – in F&B, Hospitality, Marketing, Sales, Parking (4 years of my life I’ll never get back – no disrespect intended..!) and most recently as a Senior Leader in the Leisure Attractions business in the UK and abroad, I have learned a simple lesson. From the large Corporate, to small family owned and run businesses, what matters most for business success?
What is a business ‘Process’? In short – EVERYTHING YOU AND YOUR BUSINESS DOES.
So you have agreed your Business Purpose. You know what it is. Your team are aligned with your purpose. But do you have a process for achieving that purpose – in all aspects of your business?
Process fulfils Purpose Purpose creates Opportunity Opportunity fosters Growth
Your business process ultimately creates your business success, by allowing you to delegate tasks effectively to your team.
It’s not rocket science.
I was recently asked, “What do you think is the biggest challenge for SMEs at the moment?”
Obviously ‘Covid’ springs to mind. I disagree…
For me, having a vast variety of experience in private sector businesses, from large Corporates, to smaller SMEs and small family businesses, I have the ability to see the ‘helicopter’ view for small business owners and see what levers the businesses need to pull to react to changing business circumstances – covid and non-covid impacts. I do see that SME business owners often ‘can’t see the wood for the trees’ and can’t actually be a LEADER in their own business as they are too busy DOING business.
